Stop Chasing Success and Start Mastering Your Identity

In the business world, everyone is obsessed with the how.

How do I scale? How do I go viral? How do I lead a global team?

But after six years in the military and building a marketing agency that supports 25 families worldwide, I’ve realized that the "how" is secondary. The real question—the one most men are too afraid to answer—is who.

The "Regular Dude" Fallacy

When people see a 29-year-old running a global firm, they assume there’s a secret sauce. They think I was born with a "CEO brain."

The truth? I’m just a regular dude. But I am a regular dude with an extraordinary purpose. I hate mediocrity. I loathe the idea of "just getting by." In the military, mediocrity gets people killed. In business, it just kills your potential. The difference between the man I was at 18 and the man I am today isn't luck—it’s the decision to be shaped by my experiences rather than crushed by them.

I didn't launch my agency in 2026 by playing it safe; I did it by chasing a vision relentlessly. If you want to see the raw reality of what that journey looks like, I documented the process in I Chased My Dreams for 6 Months. (Here's what happened).

The Mat and the Mission

Every morning, when I step onto the mats for Jujitsu, I am reminded of a fundamental truth: You cannot fake your way through a chokehold. Business is exactly the same. You can have the best man-made advice in the world, but if your character is weak, your systems will crumble when the "dark days" arrive.

Man-made advice often leads you away from the truth because it focuses on the shortcut. Scriptural advice, however, focuses on the foundation. Part of that foundation is mastering the fear that keeps most leaders small. Whether it's a boardroom presentation or hitting "record" on a camera, internal resistance is the enemy. I broke down my own process for overcoming this in How I Got Rid of Anxiety Behind the Camera.

The Military Mindset: More Than Just 'Waking Up Early'

The true lesson I brought from the service into my agency isn't about volume; it’s about Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the Soul. In the field, you don't rise to the occasion; you sink to the level of your training. Business is no different.

When a marketing campaign fails or a key employee resigns, a mediocre leader panics. A disciplined leader—one who has mastered his identity—reverts to his systems. I lead 25 employees across different time zones, not by being "the boss," but by being the anchor.

The Lure of the Opportunity: Why Most Men Fail at Scale

One of my personal mantras is that we must be Risk Takers, but we must be driven by the Lure of the Opportunity, not the desperation of the paycheck.

Most entrepreneurs are "opportunity junkies." They see a shiny new niche and they sprint toward it, leaving their current team and systems in shambles. This is where the "man-made advice" fails you. The world tells you to "pivot fast" and "break things." Scriptural wisdom tells you to "count the cost" and "build on rock."

The Art of Selling Without Selling

We need to address the "viral" elephant in the room. My agency is built on viral marketing, but "viral" isn't a magic trick. It’s a deep understanding of human context.

People do not like to buy what they are being sold. However, people love to buy what they are told they need. To achieve this, you have to understand the architecture of attention. Some creators stumble into growth, but the elite build it by design. Learn the blueprint in These 2 Kinds Of Channels Go Viral By Design.

Once you have that attention, you must know how to convert it into a sustainable business engine. We’ve mastered the art of turning content into a high-performance machine, and you can see that strategy in action here: Transform ANY YouTube Video Into Your Marketing Asset (Genius Marketing).

The Decision is Yours

Every experience shapes us. The military shaped me. Jujitsu shapes me every time I’m forced to tap out or push through a grueling round. Leading a global team shapes me every time we hit a milestone.

But here is the final truth: You make the decision on how that shaping creates a success in your character. You can let the stress of business shape you into a cynical, tired, mediocre version of yourself. Or, you can decide that every challenge is a chisel, refining your identity into someone extraordinary.

Every single day is a gift. Don't waste it being average.
